[Eye C] my universe

This is a step in the right direction. My own, personal universe is enormous, yet it points in one general direction; the art of c-ing.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the name I use for this – Eye C, refers to the act of seeing, it plays with the pronounciation of Eye vs I, and also points to more abstract ways of c-ing, as through thought and mindset, philosophy, spiritual paths – in short; perception.

Photography specifically, is the art of capturing a small part of reality, to be presented in the most nature-like way of all art forms (ok, I do admit, certain sculptures are very nature-like too) on a piece of paper – or a screen, for that matter.

Unlike what some people think, the art of photographing is not only the ability to point a camera in any direction and push a button. It may seem like so, but there’s a whole lot more to it.

And it is called; perception.

We photograph what we percieve, and what we percieve is based on who we are, the knowledge we have, the experiences we have gathered through our life, it is shaped on the relationships we have, how we relate to this and that, et cetera. And it doesn’t matter if we’re amateurs or professional, the basics of our perception works the same way.

The difference between an amateur and a professional photographer, is how much we’ve trained our perception, and to which degree we can use the technology we’re given. This includes not only the camera, but also the work we do with our negatives (whether analogue or digital) and how we present it to the world.

My own interests in photography deals mainly with what I like to call photo grotesque, but also in creating photography that does not necessarily tell you what it is, but rather how parts of it relates to each other. I work exclusively in black and white, and I do that because I find colour a distraction from what is really important; the emotional response it creates in a viewer.

Should you choose to come back and read more about my view on photography, percection and anything else that in one way or the other relates to this, I can tell you this…

You probably won’t regret it. I’ll be writing about photography/perception through a more philosophical perspective. If you’re into this I invite you to return. Feel free to subscribe to my Reflections (news letter), and not only that – I am available for communication in any of the social medias where I am present.

And trust me when I say this; I really look forward to finding people who enjoy this as much as I do. The conversation about photography tends to be focused more on technique rather than the joy of creating and looking at photographs.

So come on – join me on this journey of rebuilding my entire online presence, and let’s dive into the geekiest and most nerdy things philosophical stuff concerning the most amazing art form ever created.

I am ready.

Are you?
